Your nervous system is your Board of Directors.
When it's steady and flowing, your mind can explore futures that your body believes are possible.
When it's chaotic or in flight, your options shrink to what feels safe in the moment.
Here's what I drew up in one of my coaching sessions:
"Your Safety = Your Comfort – The Furthest Expanse of Who You Can Imagine"
If you subtract the edges of your imagination from what you call "comfortable," you're left with what feels safe.
Most people live here: in the net of their safety. It's familiar. Predictable.
It's where the Board of Directors in your nervous system votes 9-0 for "don't rock the boat."
"Don't change." "Don't post." "We are good right here."
But safety does not equal peace. It's the absence of risk in the prison you've already built.
The furthest expanse of who you can imagine — the life you can see in detail and feel in your bones — isn't dangerous. It's just beyond the comfort perimeter you've spent years reinforcing.
When your nervous system is regulated, that perimeter moves. Comfort expands. The distance between "safe" and "possible" collapses.
That's how you go from subtraction to addition. From "my safety is what's left after I shrink my dreams" to "my safety grows every time my vision does."
Most people think "10x" comes from ambition. But it also comes from harmony.
A well-led system makes bold, long-term decisions because it isn't bracing for impact every second.
In quantum physics, a particle exists in infinite possibilities until it's observed. You are the observer of your life. The steadier your inner environment, the more expansive the field of possibility.
The Stoics knew: you can't control the world, but you can cultivate the space where your response is born.
That cultivation is leadership.
So tend to your systems. Regulate them like they're the source code of your life — because they are.
