Perfect Isn't Part of the Plan

You guys know I hate dumb advice. I probably can't stand anything more than when people speak on things they don't have any knowledge of.

And yet it happens every day when people sell you the perfect body, the perfect desk, the perfect writing conditions, etc.

I guess the reason for today's post is that I try my hardest to instill in you; my friends and family, the skills you need to share your passion with the world and defy the odds. But you're not going to read this blog post, or anyone else's and go enact it.

Let's face it: You're not going to "pick yourself."

I want you to, I really do. So does the rest of the human race. But most people are too damn worried about how to do it right, or perfect, instead of how to do it at all.

Before most people take on a new project, business venture or anything relatively unknown, they consult friends, family, loved ones, dogs or cats, and finally mull over it some more. Even though we're humans and our instincts have enabled us to do some of the most amazing shit the world has ever known, we don't trust THOSE SAME VERY INSTINCTS.

Perfection is not a part of that.

Getting shit done is ugly, mean, and wild.

They didn't get there by being perfect.

They got there by wanting to be.

Perfection isn't real. No one remembers the person who got a perfect score on their SATs and then lost their job.

What's real is what you make every day, how hard you work, how hard you try. Also, have you said thank you, today?

When is the last time you made something that isn't perfect, but you were proud of it?
