Waiting for Your Rocket
Hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but talent can only get you so far in any industry. At some point, you have to hand a business card to the right person, spend some money, brand, market, throw all that stuff out the window and do it all over again.
At what point do you “grab the bull by the horns” and why are there so many artists who can’t or haven’t?
Well, there are quite a few reasons.
There’s laziness, there’s ego and there’s the “artronauts.”
No, that’s not a typo.
The artronauts are like the astronauts, of the art world. You see, they’re not astronauts in the sense, that they’ve studied for their entire lives to launch into the great beyond and explore the unknown.
The artronauts want to see this world and beyond, they want to share their experiences, they want the success and revelry, but they don’t want to do the work. They just don’t know how.
These folks want the groupies, but don’t want to learn to read music or practice an instrument.
If you’re in this business, the art business, for a magical handshake that is going to change your life, you might be shaking a lot of hands in your lifetime. That’s a lot of sanitizer for all the BS you’re going to have to touch.
Build a rocket that you’re proud of and that you know can fly.
Then watch how many people start asking YOU for your card.
